In the meantime I'm running for Newport Beach City Council - District 1 (Balboa Peninsula and Lido Isle) As you probably know 6 of 7 seats are actually up for election -
District 1 - my race has 4 people running - Brenda Martin (the favorite of course) - one is Mike Henn,a hand pick of former council Todd Ridgeway, Jack WU - a young politician - and Marcia Dossey - big business Gagaichian is her primary support -
District 4 - Tv star Barbara Venezia was running against appointee Leslie Daigle = enter 'dirty politics' and Barbara ostensibly dropped out - time will tell (maybe you could do a beach city political drama- we believe she will still get elected - good - and will take the seat
District 5 Bob Schoonmaker is running against appointee Ed Selich
District 6 ##### Nichols is running against Nancy Gardener
District 7 Dolores Otting is running against appointee Keith Curry
Mayor Don Webb has not been officially opposed but many people are doing a write-in (which made me think of you, for some reason) and they are writing in Rick Taylor. Rick is on airport groups and fighting the flights overhead and also helping us fight airport expansion.
Biggest issue to vote on is Yes on X(Greenlight II) and also yes on V if you want the new General Plan amendment - but really yes on x to insure the problems with V will be covered, it's very simple - we the residents need to keep the vote hence X must get in.
